Dyrhólaey Nature Reserve This small peninsula on the southern coast of Iceland is famous for its magnificent natural rock arch. From the Dyrhólaey promontory, you can enjoy beautiful views of black sand beaches.

Vík’s Black Sand Beach (Víkurfjara) There are not many places in the world where you can find black sand beaches, and Iceland is one of them. Experts have repeatedly recognized Vík as one of the most unusual and beautiful places on the planet. The beach landscapes are simply fantastic. It’s no wonder Vík’s black beach was one of the filming locations for Game of Thrones.

Day 4
Fjaðrárgljúfur Canyon One of the most beautiful canyons in Iceland, ranked among the top 20 canyons in the world. This impressive gorge, about 100 meters deep and 2 km long, will leave you speechless.
Vatnajökull Glacier The largest glacier not only in Iceland but in all of Europe. It stretches over a vast area of 8,100 square kilometers, covering 8% of the country’s land. We’ll visit several locations near the glacier.
Skaftafell Nature Reserve An Icelandic oasis that allows you to walk through waterfalls, forests, glaciers, and much more. We’ll hike to the small Svartifoss waterfall and enjoy the view from the lookout point over the glacier tongue, or simply take a walk to the glacier tongue, depending on the weather conditions.
Next, we’ll travel to a secret canyon, where we’ll enjoy an easy hike up the mountain.
Canyon and two waterfalls This stunning spot remained hidden from travelers for many years but has recently gained popularity. To reach the canyon, we’ll pass through overgrown bushes, small river streams, and various trails along the canyon’s edge. At the end of the trek, we’ll be rewarded with spectacular views. The route is about 2 km long, with an elevation gain of about 200 meters, and is considered easy.
Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon + Diamond Beach This is the largest glacier lagoon in the country and one of the few places in Iceland where you can see floating icebergs up close. Nearby, the black beach has been nicknamed Diamond Beach because of the ice chunks that resemble sparkling diamonds in the sun. However, these icebergs can’t always be seen, as it depends on the weather, season, and tide. The lagoon has been featured in many films, including the James Bond movies A View to a Kill and Die Another Day, as well as Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and Batman Begins.

Day 5
Drive to Egilsstadir We’ll drive along the beautiful Icelandic serpentine road, stopping at scenic viewpoints along the sea and the pass. In the town, we’ll do some grocery shopping before heading to the canyon.
Canyon with basalt columns One of the most breathtaking natural formations, this canyon makes visitors feel as though they’ve stepped onto another planet. Hundreds of basalt columns and the turquoise river running through them create an irresistible spot for photographers.
Dettifoss Waterfall Translated as “the roaring waterfall,” Dettifoss is not only the largest waterfall in Iceland but also the most powerful in all of Europe!
Námafjall Geothermal Area This area features hot mud pools and steaming fumaroles surrounded by sulfur crystals. You’ll smell the distinctive scent of hydrogen sulfide as the region is highly acidic and devoid of vegetation. The geothermal fields’ colors are mesmerizing, and it may feel as if you’ve landed on Mars.
Myvatn Geothermal Pool The warm water, rich in sulfur, is beneficial for the skin and health. The pool is surrounded by impressive lava fields and mountain landscapes, creating a peaceful atmosphere amidst pristine nature. We’ll spend a few hours here, enjoying the stunning views of the surrounding landscape. The complex includes changing rooms with hairdryers, showers, and a small sauna.

Day 6
Whale Watching!
In a small Icelandic town on the shore of the Arctic Ocean, we’ll embark on a boat tour in search of whales, with a 95% chance of spotting them.
Next, we’ll head to the geothermal area at the Krabla caldera, where we’ll see:
Jon Snow’s Cave This beautiful lava cave, with a geothermal hot spring inside, became popular after filming a scene for Game of Thrones, where Jon Snow and Ygritte shared a love scene in season 3, episode 4.
Volcanic Crater Not only an awe-inspiring natural wonder, but also evidence of the incredible geological activity that has shaped Iceland over the centuries. The mountain formed after a volcanic eruption over 2,500 years ago, and its size and symmetry show the explosive power of the eruption.
The climb to the top is relatively easy. The mountain is about 400 meters high, and the crater is 1 km wide and 140 meters deep. From the top, we’ll have an amazing panoramic view of the mountains, lake, and lava fields.
Next, we’ll drive around Lake Myvatn toward Iceland's northern capital, Akureyri, stopping at:
Dimmuborgir Lava Fields & Lake Myvatn The Dimmuborgir lava field is covered with jagged black lava pillars and caves, formed after a massive volcanic eruption around 2,000 years ago. Lake Myvatn, created by basaltic lava eruptions thousands of years ago, is one of northern Iceland’s natural beauties. It’s one of Iceland’s four largest lakes, making it a unique place.
Godafoss Waterfall Though not as large as some, Godafoss is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Iceland, measuring 12 meters in height and 30 meters in width. The surrounding rock formations make it one of the greatest natural wonders in Iceland.
Akureyri City From one side of Iceland, you’ll see mighty glaciers, volcanoes, and the ocean, while from the other side, you’ll find the beautiful city of Akureyri, the second-largest city in Iceland and the fourth most populous. Located just 100 km from the Arctic Circle, it sits on the shore of Iceland’s largest fjord.
We’ll take a leisurely walk around the city, shop for souvenirs, and, if you wish, visit the botanical garden.

Day 7
Geothermal Area in Central Iceland
A small but stunning mountain range lies deep in the central part of Iceland, between two sparkling glaciers. The mountains rise from the desolate rocky landscape, creating beautiful snowy peaks. The chain of rocky mountains reaches heights of 800 to 1,500 meters, offering mesmerizing views.
The land here is colored in shades of yellow, red, and green, due to various minerals emerging from the hot springs. The colors shift depending on the weather and the sun.
The scenery will instantly enchant you. A small valley of red rhyolite mountains, steaming vents, and bubbling rivers makes it a paradise for travelers, a photographer’s dream, and an ideal spot for a 3-4 km hike (moderate difficulty).
Haukadalur Geyser Valley Here lies the world’s first documented and famous geyser. It erupts every 5-10 minutes, shooting hot water up to 20 meters high. Its consistent activity makes it one of the most active geysers in the world.
Gullfoss Waterfall One of the most beautiful and largest waterfalls in Iceland, it is also one of the most powerful waterfalls in Europe. With a height of 32 meters, it ranks 9th in height among all Icelandic waterfalls.

Day 8
Bruarfoss – The Blue Waterfall
This stunning waterfall is known for its vibrant blue waters, resulting from glacial meltwater flowing down the river. While it’s smaller compared to other Icelandic waterfalls, its unique color and peaceful atmosphere make it a favorite for those who find it.
Thingvellir National Park
Located in the middle of the Atlantic Ridge, where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates meet. The plates are moving apart at a rate of about 2 cm per year, creating a rift valley.
Glimur Waterfall At 198 meters, Glimur is one of Iceland's tallest waterfalls. Its massive size and majestic appearance attract nature lovers and adventurers. The hike to Glimur starts with a scenic trail that passes through forests, rivers, and gorges.
